RICHARDSON, TX (05.20.15) - Ed Bull, who has led the UT Dallas head men's and women's program's for nearly a decate Ed Bull has announced his retirement, effective May 31. A national search for UTD's next men's and women's head golf coach will begin immediately.

Bull, who coached both the Comet men and women for the past nine seasons, just wrapped up a 40-year coaching teaching and coaching career. He took over the two UTD programs in 2006 and has turned both squads in American Southwest Conference contenders during his tenure.
"It is with mixed emotions that I announce my decision to retire," said Bull. "I have genuinely enjoyed the time I have spent at my alma mater and am very happy to have spent the final nine years career here."
A native of Abilene, Texas, Bull began his coaching and teaching career in 1976 as a football and track coach at Farmersville High School. His coaching career led him to coaching jobs in football, soccer and baseball as well as golf at various high schools in the Dallas, Richardson and Midland school districts.
"I want to thank Coach Bull for all his contributions to the department, and in particiular the golf program," said UTD Director of Athletics
Bill Petitt. "In a sport where the national champion in both men's and women's golf has come from Texas over the past few years, Coach Bull has maintain high ethics and has did a good job at building a program the right way. He leaves the program better than he found it and we are grateful for his hard work and continued support."
He coached at Dallas Roosevelt High School (1983-85), North Dallas High School (1985-88), Midland Lee High School (1988-1994), Wilmer Hutchins High School (1997-98), Richardson High School (1998-2000) and Dallas Jefferson High School (2000-02) before taking over the golf coaching responsibilities at Lake Highlands High School in 2002.
"I have been considering retirement for a while, but the time was not right until now," continued Bull., "All of my teams over the years have been truly inspirational and I am proud of the progress that our programs have made."
Bull earned his Bachelor's degree in education from Howard Payne University (1976), then a Master's degree in science education from UT Dallas (1988). In addition to coaching duties throughout his career, he has also taught high school courses in physics, chemistry, geology, biology, English, journalism and government.
