Box Score BELTON, TX (09.25.15) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team missed a chance to open American Southwest Conference play with an unblemished record Saturday evening, losing a close match to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 2-1.
The Comets (now 5-3 overall) fell to 1-1 inconference play after giving up a go-ahead goal to the Cru (4-2-1, 2-0 ASC) midway through the second half. Freshman
Jacqueline Kaufman had tied the match at 1-1 early in the second period, but UMHB's Caitlin Pair slipped a shot past Comet keeper
Monica Dallacasa with 23 minutes remaining and the Comets were unable to answer.
UTD fell behind in the match just 2:13 in when the Cru's Danielle Struxness scored on a shot from the close left wing off an assist from Kathryn Parker.
Both teams had 16 total shots, but UTD put nine on goal, forcing eight saves from the UMHB keeper tandem of Morgan Prentice and Courtney Craig. Dallascasa stopped four other shots from going in the the Comets.
Rachel Mullen and
Megan Mugavero joined Kaufman with three shots each.
UTD gets little rest as they travel down I-35 to Austin for a Saturday evening matchup against Concordia Texas.
