Women's Soccer to Open ASC Tournament at Home Tuesday

RICHARDSON, TX (10.31.16) - Another November means yet another postseason appearance for the UT Dallas women's soccer team as the Comets kick off the 2016 American Southwest Conference Tournament Tuesday with a quarterfinal home game against Concordia Texas.

ASC TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

The fourth-seeded Comets (11-6-1) are making a 15th consecutive and 17th all-time appearance in the ASC Tournament and will be looking to advance to at least the semifinal round for the 15th straight year with a home win over No. 5 seed Concordia Texas Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field. The ASC's "Final Four" will be played at top seed Hardin-Simmons on Nov. 4 & 6 in Abilene.

The Comets posted a 7-3-1 mark in ASC play this fall to earn the No. 4 seed, including a 3-0 win over Concordia Texas on Sept. 22. UTD is 15-15 all-time in the ASC Tournament, winning the league title in 2002 and sharing the crown in 2004.

Senior Megan Mugavero leads the Comets in goals (10) and points (26) and ranks second in assists (6) heading into the postseason. Mugavero recorded her first career "hat trick" on Oct. 1 at McMurry, a 7-0 Comet win, and leads UTD with three game-winning tallies. Sophomore Melissa Fulfer is second on the squad in goals (8) and points (22) and is tied for second on the team with six assists. Fulfer has also led the Comets with 63 shots this season, with two game-winning goals. Sophomore Jacquie Kaufman leads UTD with seven assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Monica Dallacasa boasts a 1.56 goals against average and has posted four shutouts in the regular season. Dallacasa has played nearly 1270 minutes in goal with 71 saves and 9-6 record.

In other quarterfinal action on Tuesday, Hardin-Simmons will host No. 8 seed LeTourneau, No. 2 seed Mary Hardin-Baylor will host seventh-seeded Sul Ross State and No. 3 seed Texas-Tyler will host sixth-seeded East Texas Baptist. The tournament semifinals will take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday at HSU with the league title game set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
