KERRVILLE, TX (04.12.16) - The UT Dallas men's golf team wrapped up the 2016 American Southwest Conference Championships Tuesday morning, placing fifth among the eight conference teams at the Comanche Trace Golf Club.

Blake Trahan became the first Comet to earn first team All-ASC in six season as he placed third overall with a 54-hole total of 215 (70-70-75), matching UTD's all-time low at the conference tournament. Freshman
Levi Pettit gave the Comets two All-ASC players for the first time since 2009 as he picked up second team All-ASC honors by placing 10th at 221 (71-75-75).
The Comets sat in second place after Monday's opening round by recorded the squad's best 18 holes of the season at 296. UTD followed up with a 300 in Monday's second round to enter Tuesday's final round in fourth place. The Comets carded an aggregate 306 over the final 18 holes to fall to five place.
Brice Cooper finished tied for 22nd overall at 228 (75-78-75) while
Robert Walker was tied for 30th at 240 (80-79-81) and
Tanner Landry was 33rd at 243 (84-77-82). There were 39 golfers in this year's field.
Concordia Texas jumped two spots on Tuesday to claim the team title with a three-round total of 868 (300-286-283). Texas-Tyler, the leader after both rounds one and two, fell to second place at 872 while two-time defending champion Mary Hardin-Baylor finished third at 877. LeTourneau (900) jumped the Comets final round Tuesday to finish fourth, two shots ahead of the Comets (902). Hardin-Simmons was sixth at 904, Howard Payne was seventh at 932 and Louisiana College was a distant eighth at 973. CTX's Seger Howell earned medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 210 (75-68-67). UMHB's Mats Heien, who was the co-leader with Trahan after Monday's two rounds, finished second at 212, three shots ahead of Trahan.
