RICHARDSON, TX (10.01.18) - UT Dallas freshman
Cannon Leavitt has been named the American Southwest Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
A native of Twin Falls, Idaho, paced the Comets to a third-place finish at the Red River Shootout, hosted by Midwestern State Friday night. Leavitt recorded a personal best time of 26:10 in the eight-kilometer event, finishing in third place among the 61 runners in the meet. Leavitt has been the front runner for the Comets in each of their three meets this fall.
Leavitt becomes the first UTD male runner to earn ASC weekly honors since Oct. 18, 2010, when former Comet Daniel Ludwig was chosen. Ludwig was a two-time honoree during the 2010 and the only UTD male runner to ever win the award.
The Comets return to action Saturday, Oct. 13, when they run at the Bill Libby Invitational in Abilene.
