RICHARDSON, TX (07.02.18) - Former University of Virginia standout Shasta Fisher has been named the assistant women's soccer coach at UT Dallas, announced by head coach 
Kanute Drugan.
A native of Saugus, Calif., Fisher comes to UTD after serving as the head women's coach at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon. She has also spent several years as boys and girls club coach. 
"We are very excited to welcome Shasta Fisher to our UT Dallas coaching staff," said Drugan, who will begin his fifth year as the Comets' head coach this fall. "One attribute that consistently defines Shasta's performance as a player and as a coach is her competitive drive to always be among the best. Her pride in outcomes, her competitive drive, her work ethic and work rate in pursuit and accomplishment of goals, are attributes that will benefit our team and help us grow at a time when we are diligently pursuing success at the next level." 
Fisher was a four-year letter winner while at Virginia, serving as a full-time starter for the Cavaliers as a senior. She played in 81 career games at Virginia, making 48 starts, collecting four goals and five assists from her midfield/defender position. As a senior, she led the Cavaliers to the NCAA Division I National Semifinals. After her collegiate career she was drafted by the Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and went on to play one season with the Westside Timbers of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL).
