ABILENE, TX (11.02.19) - The UT Dallas men's cross country team placed five runners among the top 12 finishers as the Comets collected their second straight American Southwest Conference championship Saturday, held at the ACU Cross Country Course.

The Comets recorded a program-best 43 points to claim the 2019 title while a school-record five UTD runners would collect All-ASC honors after their performances.
Junior
Andres Uriegas paced the Comets with a fifth-place finish, completing the eight-kilometer course in a time of 26:41. Uriegas and teammate
Trent Sakakini both were honored as first team All-ASC as Sakakini placed seventh with a time of 26:49.
Griffin Davis,
Chris Reyna and
John Gabriel all earned second team All-ASC honors as well. Davis placed ninth at 26:55, Reyna 10th at 26:59 and Gabriel 12th at 27:15. Comets head coach
Danielle Kcholi was named the ASC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
Christian Kondor finished the race in 21st place at 27:39 while
Joseph Kirby was 23rd at 27:43.
The Comets won the meet by 13 points as Hardin-Simmons would come in second place with 56 points while Ozarks was third with 68 points. Ozarks' Nathaneal Rankin won the individual race with a time of 25:53.
UTD will return to action Saturday, Nov. 16, when the Comets compete in the NCAA Division III Regional Championships in Memphis, Tenn.
