GRANBURY, TX (10.26.21) - The UT Dallas men's golf team closed out the fall portion of its schedule Tuesday with a second place finish at the ASC Preview, played at the Nutcracker Golf Course.
After leading the eight-team field with a opening-round 288, the Comets closed the event with a 303 Tuesday to fall back to second place behind No. 25-ranked and defending ASC champion Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Comets recorded a 36-hole total of 591 to finish 21 shots back of UMHB's 570. UTD's first round tally of 288 matched the fifth-lowest single round total in program history.
Daniel Shofner and
Cade Eldridge gave the Comets two top-five finishers in the event as the duo placed third and fourth, respectively, to claim All-Tournament honors. Shofner finished with a 36-hole total of 143 (70-73) with Eldridge three shots behind his teammate at 146 (69-77). Andrew Chow (75-76) and
Jared Harvey (74-77) tied for 11th at 151 while
Nick Jackson tied for 19th at 153 (75-78) and
Davis Archer tied for 38th at 158 (79-79). There were 54 golfers in the field.
Concordia Texas was a distant third at 609, one shot ahead of fourth place East Texas Baptist (610). Hardin-Simmons finished fifth at 611, McMurry sixth at 615, Howard Payne seventh at 616 and LeTourneau eighth at 635. UMHB's Andrew Baucum and Harrison Jaeger shared medalist honors, each with a 36-hole total of 139.
The league's teams will return to Nutcracker Golf Course on April 29-May 1Â for the 2022 ASC Men's Golf Championships.
