The UT Dallas men's cross country team placed second at the ASC Championships in October and would go on to record the best-ever finish in program history at the NCAA D-III Regional Championships.
After three straight ASC title, a short-handed Comet men's squad would earn a runner-up finish in the fall of 2021. UTD finished the eight-kilometer race with 45 points, just 11 points behind first-time ASC champion LeTourneau in the meet ran in Clarksville, Ark., on Oct. 30. The Comets would better the other seven teams league teams in the event.
Trent Sakakini was the Comets' top finisher in fourth place with a time of 26:10.6 while Griffin Davis finished fifth at 26:12.0. Both Sakakini and Davis collected first team All-ASC honors. Devan Bailey, Andres Uriegas and Ethan Conville would all claim second team All-ASC honors based on their finishes. (FULL ASC RESULTS)
UTD ran five regular-season meets to warm up for the ASC Championships this fall. The Comets opened the new campaign with back-to-back team victories at the Nicole Leman Invitational and the East Texas Shootout and closed the regular season with a top finish at the Bill Libby Invitational.
The Comets would close the fall in Claremont, Calif., with a 13th place finish at the NCAA D-III Region X Championships. Griffin Davis paced the Comets with a 39th place finish among the 170 runners in the regional meet.
