RICHARDSON, TX (08.24.21) - The UT Dallas men's cross country team is a near-unanimous pick to claim a fourth straight ASC title this fall as the league announced its preseason poll on Tuesday.

The Comets rolled to a third consecutive league championship this past spring while placing four runners among the top 10 at the ASC meet in March. UTD collected seven of the 10 first-places votes from the league's head coaches for 96 points in the preseason poll.
LeTourneau, this past spring's runner up, was a distant second in the balloting with 81 points and one top vote while McMurry was third with 76 points. Hardin-Simmons was picked fourth with 68 points.
East Texas Baptist (54) was fifth in voting, Concordia Texas (51) sixth, Mary Hardin-Baylor (4) seventh, Ozarks (40) eighth, Belhaven (32) ninth and Sul Ross Sate (12) 10th. UMHB and BU each collected a first-place vote.
In addition, two Comets were tabbed Runners to Watch in the 2021 fall season as sophomore
Griffin Davis and freshman
Graeme Maclean among the 14 runners singled out. Maclean finished fifth at the ASC Championships this spring while Davis was seventh. Both Comets, along with senior
Trent Sakakini, were named first team All-ASC this past spring.
The Comets will open the 2021 fall season on Saturday, Sep. 4, at the Nicole Leman Invite, hosted by LeTourneau in Longview. UTD has six regular-season meets on the schedule before the ASC Championships on Oct. 30, hosted by Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark.
