TEMPLE, TX (09.28.21) - The No. 19-ranked UT Dallas men's golf posted the lowest 36-hole total in school history as the Comets finished in second place at the UMHB Men's Invitational, hosted at the Sammons Golf Course.
FINAL RESULTS
The Comets finished the two-day event with a record-breaking 36-hole total of 564, smashing the previous school record by five strokes. UTD would close the tournament in second place, three shots behind host Mary Hardin-Baylor (559). UMHB's "B" team was third at 565 while Texas Lutheran was a distant fourth at 582.
Ryan Kropp placed third individually with a two-day total of 139 (68-71), finishing the event one-under par. With back-to-back rounds of par,
Cade Eldridge tied for fourth at 140 while
Advait Chutke tied for sixth at 141 (71-70).
Davis Archer (72-75) and
Andrew Chow (74-73) tied for 20th at 147 and
Jared Harvey tied for 26th at 149 (71-78).
Playing as individuals,
Tyler Reitano tied for 24th 148 (74-74) while
Charles Lippa tied for 49th at 159 (82-77). There were 61 golfers representing nine teams in the tournament.
UMHB's Andrew Baucum earned medalist honors with a 36-hole total of 135 (-5), two shots better than fellow Cru golfer William Sammons at 137.
The Comets' previous 36-hole team record with 569, set at the 2014 John Bohmann Invitational, hosted by Texas Lutheran. The squad's opening-round total of 280 was the second-lowest single-round in school history, missing the record by a single stroke.
UTD returns to action Oct. 18-19 for the Crusader Invitational, hosted by the University of Dallas at the Winstar Golf Course in Thackerville, Okla.
