Danielle Kcholi has announced the hiring of
Aaron Capehart as the two programs' first-ever full-time assistant coach. Capehart began his duties at UTD on Jan. 10.
A native of Siloam Spring, Ark., Capehart joins the Comet staff after serving as an assistant track & field coach at John Brown University. In his two seasons with the Golden Eagles, Capehart served as the program's recruiting coordinator and coached the JBU hurdlers and sprinters. In addition, he assisted in the planning of workouts and weight routines for the Golden Eagle student-athletes.
Prior to joining the JBU staff, Capehart started his coaching career as a volunteer coach in the Clarksville (Ark.) School District, working with junior high and high school hurdlers. He then worked one season as a volunteer coach at Siloam Springs High School, also working with the cross country program.
Capehart earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from JBU in 2021. He began his collegiate career as a cross country and track & field student-athlete at the University of the Ozarks, a fellow ASC member. At Ozarks, he was a three-year member of the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), servings as the committee's campus relations coordinator as a junior. As a senior, Capehart transferred to JBU to compete in track & field, training as a multi-event athlete.
