RESULTS
MARSHALL, Texas - Despite muddy conditions, UT Dallas junior Graeme Maclean was the individual champion with a record time at the American Southwest Conference Championship on the campus of East Texas Baptist University Saturday morning.
Maclean became the Comets' first men's medalist at the conference meet with a school and league record 8K mark of 25:34.6. He also earned All-ASC honors for the second time.
Senior Justin Ardis was also named the Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year. He is the third Comet runner to earn the award.
As a team, UTD was the runner-up, being edged out by McMurry 39-54.Â
Graduate student
Trent Sakakini became the second five-time all-conference honoree in ASC history by placing sixth in 26:19.3. Junior Devan Bailey was a Second Team honoree with a 14th place in 27:12.3. It was his second All-Conference honors.
Christopher Castro (27:28.2),
Griffin Davis (27:37.1), Jayden Chambless (27:38.6) and Javion Zavala (27:50.6) rounded out the scoring for the Comets, taking 16th-19th places, respectively.
UTD will be back in action at the NCAA Division III West Regional Championships in Spokane, Wash. on November 12.
