RICHARDSON, TX (06.01.22) - UT Dallas second baseman Ramon Garza has been named first team All-American by D3baseball.com, announced Wednesday morning by the online publication. Garza becomes the eighth All-American in Comet baseball history.

Garza, a native of San Antonio, was a consensus first team all-region player for the Comets this spring, earning the honor from both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) earlier this week. He was a .387 hitter for the Comets this season while also leading the squad in runs scored (65), hits (84), doubles (18), RBI (58) and home runs (14). Garza also boasted a team-best .682 slugging percentage, adding two triples. A first team All-ASC honoree for UTD this spring, Garza recorded the Comets' first-ever 'cycle' in the regional round of the NCAA D-III National Championship.

The All-America list from the ABCA is excpected later this week.

The Comets closed the 2022 campaign with a 35-17 overall record, setting a new program mark for victories, while claiming their second straight and third all-time ASC Championship. UTD qualified for the NCAA D-III National Championship for the fourth time in program history.
