RESULTS
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The UT Dallas women's cross country squad placed third out of seven teams, while the Comet men took fourth place at the DBU Orville Rogers XC Opener at Lynn Creek Park Saturday morning.
Competing against NCAA Division II and junior college teams, the UTD women scored 128 points, finishing behind host Dallas Baptist and Midwestern State.
Sophomore
Rebeca Betanzo paced the Comets with a personal-best 20:39.5 on the five kilometer course, finishing 20th. Fellow sophomore
Sage Herrera followed in 23rd with a time of 20:52.2. Freshman
Hannah Edwards took 33rd place in 21:20.5 and freshman
Avery Grossman was 42nd in 21:56.5. Freshman
Abby Valdez ran the course in 23:02.8, finishing 62nd to round out the scoring for UT Dallas.
The Comet met scored 88 points, finishing behind Dallas Baptist, Texas A&M-Commerce and UT Tyler.
Junior
Graeme Maclean had the top finish of day for a UTD runner. He finished 10th with an 8K mark of 27:18.0. Junior
Devan Bailey also secured a top 20 finish at 16th in 27:57.3, as did freshman
Christopher Castro in 28:04.6 (18th) and senior
Griffin Davis in 28:13.8 (20th). Sophomore
Matthew Chimitt posted a time of 28:48.0, finishing in 26th place.
UT Dallas will race again on Saturday, September 10 at the University of Dallas XC Invitational in Irving, Texas.
