CLINTON, Miss. - The UT Dallas men's cross country finished second out of 25 teams, while the women were sixth out of 20 at the Watson Collegiate Classic at Choctaw Trails Friday morning.
The Comet men scored 79 points, just behind host Mississippi's College (33). The UTD women recorded 172 points with the Choctaws winning the met with 19.
Senior
Graeme Maclean took fifth place in the 8K race with a time of 25:31.6. Sophomore
Christopher Castro was just behind in 25:32.0, placing sixth. They were the second and third fastest 8K marks in school history.
Freshman
Frank Douglas placed 22nd in 26:19.8 and junior
Matthew Chimitt had a time of 26:36.7, placing 27th. Senior
Devan Bailey rounded out the scoring for the Comets with a 32nd place in 26:42.9.
Rebeca Betanzo paced the women and was the top runner from the American Southwest Conference finishing in ninth with a 6K time of 23:10.7. Junior
Sage Herrera took 15th in 23:52.5 and freshman
Maiyah Phoummarath was 50th in 25:30.0. Senior
Jocelyn Heckenkamp was 58th in 25:49.0 and freshman
Emily Skrabanek was 69th in 26:07.5.
The Comets will compete again at the ASC Championships in Grand Prairie, Texas on Saturday, October 28.
