Megan Todd and
Emilie Hoelscher were named the American Southwest Conference Softball Co-Player and Co-Pitcher of the Week, respectively, on Monday.
Todd, a catcher from Houston, hit .500 (6-for-12) with three doubles, two home runs, six runs and 10 RBI as the Comets opened the season 4-0 in Memphis. She had a RBI-double in a 7-0 win over Rhodes then followed by going 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and three runs scored in the 10-1 nightcap. Todd hit a three-run homer and scored three times in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Transylvania and finished the weekend with five RBI with a double and another homer in a 12-3, five-inning win against Webster. She also had a 1.250 slugging percentage and drew three walks.
Hoelscher, a left-handed pitcher from Waco, Texas, went 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 12 innings in Memphis. She opened the season by fanning seven and allowing two hits in five scoreless frames in the combined shutout against Rhodes. Hoelscher struck out a career-high nine batters, allowing four hits, one run and three walks in the complete game victory against Transylvania.
The Comets will be back in action on Saturday when they host Ottawa (Kansas) in a double-header at noon.
