SHAWNEE, Okla. - The UT Dallas track & field team's performance at the OBU Invitational Saturday was highlighted by seven new program records for the women.
Sophomore
Sage Herrera recorded a fourth-place finish in the 1,500 meter run, shaving 10.3 seconds off her previous program record in 4:59.78.Â
Freshman sprinter
Tia Billingsly broke her own records in bot the 100 and 200 meter dashes. She ran the 100 in 13.04 seconds, besting the old mark by .17 and the 200 in 27.13, a difference of .74 seconds.
Freshman Hope Giadolor ran a 1:08.24 in the 400 meter dash in her collegiate debut, breaking the old mark by 2.98 seconds.
Hannah Edwards improved her school record in the long jump by 4.75 inches with leap of 4.65 meters (15 ft.-3.25 in.).
Freshman Chisom Mbah also improved her two program records. She expanded her shot put by 22.75 inches, throwing it 30.50 meters (31 ft.-6 in.). Mbah also had a discus throw of 30.50 meters (100 ft.-1 in.), placing 14th overall and besting her old record by 6 ft.-5 in.
The men's 4x100 relay team of Kameron Quinn, Rafe Premo, Chiemeka Ejikeme and Muaaz Makda placed ninth in 43.24.
Sophomore Nathaniel Brim was 14th with an 800 meter time of 2:01.10.
Jackson Tucker placed 11th in the discus with a mark of 35.59 meters (116 ft.-9 in.). Lucas Wick had a shot put of 10.99 meters (36 ft-..75 in.), finishing 12th.
UT Dallas Women's Notes
- Freshman Aparna Amarneethi ran the 800 meters in 2:52.62.
- Abby Valdez had a time of 21:34.37, placing fifth in the 5,000 meters.
UT Dallas Men's Notes
- Rami Habbas had a personal best with 100 meter dash time of 11.25 seconds.
- Rafe Premo ran the 200 meters in 23.10 seconds, a personal record, and finished in 22nd in the 400 in 51.50.
