ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas track & field teams broke five school records Saturday as they competed in two different meets.
Four Comet distance runners competed at the J. Fred Duckett Invitational hosted by Rice in Houston. Trent Sakakni finished fifth in the steeplechase, behind four Division I runners, with a time of 9:27.97.
Griffin Davis broke
Graeme Maclean's school record by 5.34 seconds in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:02.10, finishing 11th. Davis now has the top time in the American Southwest Conference.
The rest of the Comets battled at the McMurry University Invitational in Abilene, Texas.
The men's 4x100 relay team of
Kameron Quinn,
Dami Oyadiran, Chimeka Ejkeme and
Rami Habbas finished second with a school record mark of 41.70 seconds, breaking the old time by .65 seconds.
Joseph Hussey was the first Comet in program history to attempt the triple jump. He won the even with a mark of 11.83 meters (38 ft.-9.75 in.)
Nathaniel Brim took second in the 1,500 meters, coming in with a new personal record of 4:14.94. He was followed by
Mitch Carter in fourth in 4:25.14.
For the women,
Tia Billingsly once again broke her own record with a 12.90 second 100 meter dash, finishing second. She improved upon her old mark by .14 seconds
Hannah Chellali also established a triple jump record with a second place finish of 9.79 meters (32 ft.-1.5 in.).
Other Notes
- Habbas and
Rafe Premo were sixth and seventh with PRs in the 400 meter dash. Habbas ran a 50.28 with Premo coming in at 50.40 seconds.
- Ejikeme finished eighth with personal best 100 meter time of 11.08 seconds.

Taimoore Arshi was eighth with an 800 meter time of 2:15.40.
- Quinn recorded a time of 22.68 seconds in the 200, finishing 13th.
- Hussey was third in the long jump at 6.05 meters (19 ft.-10.25 in.). Oyadiran was fourth with a jump of 5.88 meters (19 ft.-3.5 in.).
- Billingsly finished eighth in the 200 meter dash in 27.36 seconds.
Up Next
The Comets will compete at the ASC Championships May 4-6 in Abilene.
