BELTON, Texas - The UT Dallas softball team will be making ts its 11th trip to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament which begins Thursday at Dee Dillon Field on the campus of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
ASC TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
The Comets (24-16) enter the tournament as the sixth seed and will face LeTourneau (26-14), the number three seed, at 10 a.m. Thursday. UTD took two-of-three from the YellowJackets at home two weeks ago. The winner of the game will play #2 East Texas Baptist (35-5) at 3 p.m. Thursday, while the loser will play in an elimination game Friday at 12:30 p.m. The tournament is a six-team, double elimination format.
The Comets enter the championship ranked second in the ASC in home runs (19) and walks drawn (110) while the pitching staff leads the league with 243 strikeouts, tying the school record.
Senior catcher
Megan Todd leads the Comets with a .358 batting average with five runs and 33 runs batted in. She also has 11 doubles. Freshman third baseman
Addison Caddell leads the team with 12 doubles to go with a .357 average and 22 knocked in. Freshman right fielder
Claire Pollack comes into the tourney with a .355 average and is tied for the team lead with 43 hits.

Emilie Hoelscher leads the league with a school record 145 strikeouts in 199 innings with a 13-8 record and a 2.12 ERA.
Marisa Mejia is 5-2 with a pair of saves and a 1.66 earned run average.
The Comets won their lone ASC title in 2017.
