RICHARDSON, Texas – The UT Dallas softball team had eight student-athletes honored by the American Southwest Conference by coaches vote in the postseason awards the league announced Wednesday.
Senior
Emilie Hoelscher was named the Tri-Pitcher of the Year and to the All-ASC First Team. Seniors
Marisa Mejia and
Megan Todd were selected to the Second Team and senirs
Jordan Evans and
Sarah Lewis, sophomore
Megan Cavazos and freshmen
Addison Caddell and
Claire Pollack were on the Third Team.
ASC Softball Awards
Hoelscher is the first Pitcher of the Year winner in program history. From Waco, Texas, she broke the school season record and led the league with 151 strikeouts and was named the ASC Pitcher of the Week three times. She went 13-10 with a 2.25 ERA, 12 complete games and two shutouts while throwing 127.2 innings. Hoelscher was also a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District. She was a Third Team pick in 2022.
Mejia, a utility player from Prosper, Texas, split time at pitcher, second base and designated player. She went 5-2 with two saves and a 1.88 earned run average and was named ASC Pitcher of the Week twice. In 52 innings, she struck out 27, allowing just 10 walks, and threw three shutouts. At the plate, Mejia hit .367 with 11 hits, five runs, one double and nine RBI.
Todd, from Houston, hit .341 with 43 hits, 15 runs scored, 11 doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI. She tied the ASC record with eight RBI in a game and was named the Hitter of the Week. Todd was an Honorable Mention in 2021 and Second Team selection last season.
Evans, a second baseman from Cypress, Texas, hit .328 with 19 hits, 15 runs scored three RBI and six stolen bases. She was also on the CSC Academic All-District Team.
Caddell, a third baseman from Sulphur Springs, Texas, led the Comets with 13 doubles while hitting .350 with 41 hits, 20 runs scored, two home runs, 23 RBI and four stolen bases.
Pollack, a right fielder from League City, Texas, led the team with 28 runs and 44 hits. She hit .344 with eight doubles, one triple, four home runs, 19 RBI and six steals.
Lewis, a designated player from Arlington, Texas, hit .283 with 28 hits, three runs scored, four doubles, one home run and 21 runs batted in.
Cavazos, a left fielder from San Benito, Texas, led the Comets with a .353 batting average with 30 hits, 14 runs, six doubles, one triple, eight RBI and two stolen bases. She made the American Southwest Conference All-Tournament Team and was a CSC Academic All-District selection.
