RICHARDSON, Texas - RICHARDSON, Texas - Nine student-athletes from UT Dallas were named to the Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Teams selected by College Sports Communicators on Wednesday.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must carry a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and play in half of the team's contests. They are now eligible to for Academic All-America status.

Trent Sakakini were honored for the UTD men.
Betanzo, from Prosper, Texas, was an All-ASC Second Team honoree after finishing ninth at the American Southwest Conference Cross Country Championships. She was named ASC Runner of the Week twice during the season. Betanzo holds the UTD 5,000 meter record in track and placed sixth in the 5K and the 1,500 meters at the ASC Championship. She is majoring in Finance.
Chimitt, of Round Rock, Texas, is a two-time Academic All-ASC selection and a former conference Freshman of the Year. She finished 31st at the ASC Cross Country Championships. Chimitt is majoring in Accounting.
Heckenkamp, from Delafield, Wis., is a two-time academic all-conference honoree. She finished 28th at the 2022 ASC Championships. Heckenkamp is majoring in Computer Science.
Herrera, of Fort Worth, Texas, was an All-ASC First Team selection after finishing sixth at the league's cross country championship. In track, she won the ASC's 800 meter run, setting a school record in 2:17.80. Herrera also broke the school record in the 1,500 this season. She is majoring in Visual and Performing Arts.
Bailey, from Waterford, Pa., earned Second Team All-ASC in cross country, placing 14th at the championship. In track, he won the ASC's 10,000 meters and was runner-up in the 5,000. Bailey broke the school 10K record in Los Angeles in March. He is majoring in Mathematics.
Davis, of Austin, Texas, finished 17th at the ASC Cross Country Championships and 55th at the NCAA West Regional. He finished second in the 10,000 meters and fourth in the 5K at the ASC Track & Field Championships. Davis holds the school 5,000 meter record. He is a Computer Science major.
Maclean, from Fairview, Texas, was the program's first ASC Individual Medalist, breaking the league's 8K record in 25:34.6. He also finished 37th at the NCAA Division III West Regional. Maclean won the 1,500-meter run at the conference track & field championships. He is majoring in Computer Science.
Makda, from Frisco, Texas, was a Second Team All-ASC honoree after running on the second-place 4x400 relay team at the conference championship. He also placed seventh in the 400 meter dash finals. Makda holds the school record in the 400 and is part of the record 4x400 relay team. He is majoring in Psychology.
Sakakini, of Frisco, Texas, won the 800 meters and 3,000 meter steeplechase at the ASC Track & Field Championships, earning All-ASC First Team honors. He holds the school 800, 1,500 and steeplechase records. In cross country, he earned All-ASC First Team honors for the fourth time, placing sixth. Sakakini was also the recipient of the ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor. Sakakini is getting his masters in Mechanical Engineering.
