ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas men's track & field team finished fourth, while the women were sixth at the 2023 American Southwest Conference Championships at Elmer Gray Stadium Saturday.
Results
The Comets broke six records on the final day of competition and had nine student-athletes earn All-Conference honors.
The men tallied 110 total points, finishing behind champion McMurry (261), East Texas Baptist (164) and LeTourneau (134) and ahead of Hardin-Simmons (73), Concordia Texas (46) and Ozarks (17).Â
The UTD women had its best finish in the third year program, scoring 34 points. McMurry (323) won the team title, followed by HSU (191), ETBU (73), LETU (73) and CTX (46). The Comets beat out Ozarks (24).
Sophomore
Sage Herrera became the first women's event winner and First Team All-ASC honoree as she won the 800 meters with a school record time of 2:17.80. She was just .98 seconds off the meet record.
Trent Sakakini repeated as the 800 meter men's champion in 1:54.40, bringing his total conference event wins to five.
Graeme Maclean won the 1,500 meters for the second time in his career in 4:05.09.
Junior
Rami Habbas earned All-ASC Second Team honors by finishing second with a personal-best time of 49.38 in the 400 meters.
Rafe Premo,
Kameron Quinn and
Muaaz Makda joined Habbas on the Second Team with a second place finish in the 4x400 relay in 3:20.45.
Devan Bailey was second in the 5,000 meters in 16:05.94.
