PLAINVIEW, Texas - The UT Dallas men's golf team won the Chicken Express Classic at the Plainview Country Club Monday and Tuesday with record-setting performances across the board.
In the six-team tournament, the Comets shot a -35, 276-278-263=817, breaking the old school record for 54 holes by 31 strokes. The final round 263 (-21) was also the lowest round in program history.
The top four UTD finishers had the lowest three-round tallies in school history. Junior
Tyler Durden fired a 67-72-64=203 (-10) and graduate student
Parker McCurdy had a 68-67-67=203 (-10) to tie for second. Durden's third-round 64 was also the lowest round ever by a Comet.
Sophomore
Reese Tortone recorded a 69-69-68=205 (-8) and graduate student
Daniel Shofner came in with a 71-72-65=208 (-5). Shofner's 65 was the second-best 18-hole score. Sophomore
Hunter Wolfinger finished with a -2, 74-70-67=211.
UT Dallas will wrap up the fall schedule with the DBU Classic in Rockwall, Texas on October 28-29.
