CLINTON, Miss. - The UT Dallas cross country teams wrapped up the 2024 season with a pair of top 10 finishes at the Watson Invitational hosted by Mississippi College at Choctaw Trails.
The Comet men finished fifth out of 21 teams, while the women boasted an eighth place finish out of 23.
The men scored 176 points, finishing behind Texas A&M-Commerce (31), MC (41), Mobile (107) and Union (Tenn.) (158). The UTD women garnered 227 points, behind McMurry (77), Rhodes (97), Union (98), Louisiana Tech (166), TAMUC (167), MC (182) and Mobile (218).Â
Sophomore
Frank Douglas was once again the fastest finisher for the Comets on the men's side. He took 20th place in 25:47.8 in the 8K race. Junior
Christopher Castro followed in 25th in 25:51.8 and senior
Matthew Chimitt was 29th with a personal-best 26:05.4. Senior
John Youssef had a mark of 26:43.6, good for 57th. Junior
Andy Hamze also ran a PR of 26:55.3 for 67th.
Freshman
Bharvi Varu was the top finisher for the women for the third consecutive meet. She took 23rd place in 24:18.4 in the Comets' first 6K course of the season. Seniors
Sage Herrera (39th/24:37.9) and
Rebeca Betanzo (40th/24:38.2) followed. The scoring was rounded out by sophomore
Ellie Suo-Anttila in 56th place in 25:07.7 and sophomore
Emily Skrabanek's time of 25:35.6, taking 75th.
