BROWNWOOD, Texas - The 13th-ranked UT Dallas women's golf team continued to build its lead on the second day of the American Southwest Conference Championship at The Hideout Golf Club Monday.
The Comets lead by seven shots after recording a 296-297=593 (+17). Mary Hardin-Baylor is in second (+24), followed by LeTourneau (+61), Hardin-Simmons (+62), Concordia Texas (+70), UC Santa Cruz (+86), East Texas Baptist (+146) and McMurry (+179).
Junior
Sofia Trevino also extended her lead with an even par round on Monday. She now has a 69-72=141 (-3) and has a commanding eight-stroke advantage entering the final round.
Karen Lee is tied for third after shooting a 73-77=150 (+6) and
Maddy Vilven has a 79-73=152 (+8) and is tied for seventh.
Sophomore
Shreya Krishnan entered the top 10 after shooting a career-best 75 in round two. She is now tied for ninth at 78-75=153 (+9).Â
UTD's 593 is the third-best 36-hole score in school history. Trevino is tied for the second-best two rounds as well.
Trevino and Vilven each made four birdies on Monday, while Krishnan registered three. Trevino is the overall leader with eight birdies for the tournament.Â
The Comets will tee of the third and final round at 9:42 a.m. Tuesday.
