GEORGETOWN, Texas - The #15 UT Dallas men's golf was the runner-up at the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club Monday.
The Comets shot a 308-288=596 (+20), just one shot behind Trinity (Texas) (+19). UTD was three shots ahead of host Southwestern (Texas) (+23) and ahead of Mary Hardin-Baylor (+27) in the 10-team field.
Graduate student
Parker McCurdy tied for fourth place, firing a 77-68=145 (+1). His second round 68 was the second-lowest of the day. Daniel Shoftner and
Cole Wiley each tied for eighth, shooting a five-over par.
Hunter Wolfinger and
Davis Archer both tied for 13th at six-over par.
Archer led all players with 28 pars made. Shofner made eight birdies an an eagle. The eagle was the seventh of his career, tying Ryan Kropp for the Comet record.
McCurdy and
Charlie Lippa each made six birdies.
UTD will look to defend its title at the 2024 American Southwest Conference Championship in Granbury, Texas beginning Friday, April 19.
