RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team placed 15 student-athletes on the All-American Southwest Conference Teams the league announced Wednesday.
Luke Finn,
Efren Munoz and
Ryan Vera were on the First Team,
Albert Garza and
Grayson Coltharp made the Second Team,
Nico Fernandez,
Garrett Neeley,
Dylan Hugley and
Ben Price were selected to the Third Team and
Zach Landry,
Jaeger Self,
Lucas Rexin,
Apollo Cassimatis,
Dylan Collins and
Caleb Vuono were Honorable Mentions.
Finn, a senior outfielder from Lucas, Texas, hit .279 with 43 hits, 52 runs, six doubles, 10 home runs, 22 RBI, 38 walks and 21 stolen bases. He was also perfect defensively in right field on 76 chances. Finn was an All-ASC Third Team pick last year.
Munoz, a junior utility player from El Paso, Texas, split time between third base and shortstop. He hit .279 with 29 hits, 18 runs, seven doubles, two home runs, 19 RBI and three stolen bases.
Vera, a graduate student starting left-handed pitcher, earned All-ASC honors for the second time. He went 6-3 with a 3.15 ERA, one shutout and 63 strikeouts over 71.1 innings. Vera also broke the UTD career records in wins, appearances, starts and innings pitched.
Garza, a junior second baseman from Santa Fe, Texas, hit .324 with 46 hits, 39 runs, 13 doubles, 23 RBI, 28 walks and 16 stolen bases. He also posted a .982 fielding percentage.
Coltharp, a junior designated from Allen, Texas, earned Second Team honors for the second straight year. He hit .267 with 20 hits, 13 runs, three doubles, two homers and 15 runs batted in.
Fernandez, a sophomore catcher from Cypress, Texas, hit .321 with 36 hits, 24 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, 1 home run, 17 RBI and 23 walks.
Neeley, a sophomore shortstop from Liberty Hill, Texas, batted .325 with 25 hits, 14 runs, five doubles, one home run, 13 RBI, four sacrifice bunts and three steals.
Hugley, a senior right-handed starter from Rowlett, Texas, was selected to the Third Team for the second time in his career. He was among the nation's leaders in victories, going 9-2 with a 50 strikeouts and a 4.63 ERA over 68 innings.
Price, a senior right-handed reliever, went 2-2 with a 1.90 ERA and five saves. He also struck out 21 batters over 23.2 innings.
Landry, a graduate student first baseman, led the Comets with a .363 average. He recorded 57 hits, 40 runs, 11 doubles, three home runs, 34 RBI, six sacrifice flies and three steals. Landry also had a .992 fielding percentage.
Self, a junior center fielder from Krugerville, Texas, was an All-ASC Honorable Mention for the second time. He hit .295 with 31 hits, 22 runs, three doubles, four home runs, 29 RBI and nine stolen bases. Self also threw out four base runners from center.
Rexin, a junior outfielder from Frisco, Texas, played all three outfield spots and threw out four base runners. He hit .306 with 41 hits, 32 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, two home runs, 20 RBI and 12 steals.
Cassimatis, a junior right-handed starter from Murphy, Texas went 3-3 with a 4.64 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 33 innings.
Collins, a junior right-handed starter from Fairview, Texas, was 4-3 with a 4.55 earned run average and 47 strikeouts over 65.1 innings.
Vuono, a senior left-handed reliever from Lewisville, Texas, was selected as an Honorable Mention for the second straight season. He had a 3.50 ERA with one save and 16 strikeouts over 18 innings.
