JOPLIN, Mo. - The UT Dallas cross country teams competed in their second meet of the season Friday night at the Southern Stampede hosted by Missouri Southern. The Comet men finished in eight place in an 18-team field, while the women were 14th.
Sophomore
Frank Douglas was the top finisher for the UTD for the second time this season, taking 23rd place and finishing the 8K course in 26:55.90. Junior
Christopher Castro graced the top 50 in 27:47.34, placing 43rd.
Senior
John Youssef completed the meet in 28:09.97 for 54th place while freshman
Joseph Trevino was 59th in 28:26.57. Fellow freshman
Nicholas Holland rounded out the scoring in 69th place with a time of 28:41.29.
Senior
Rebeca Betanzo was the top Comet for the women for the second consecutive meet. She finished 57th in 20:35.41 on the 5K trek. Freshman
Bharvi Varu was 72nd in 21:10.96 and sophomore
Ellie Suo-Anttila had a time of 21:51.15 for 92nd.
Sophomore
Becki Jeffery finished 97th in 21:59.99 and junior
Abby Valdez came in 102nd with a mark of 22:02.79.
The Comets will compete again on Saturday, September 28 at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
