LONGVIEW, Texas - UT Dallas graduate student
Parker McCurdy earned medalist honors after winning a four-man playoff at the FST Invitational on Tuesday.
McCurdy tied for first overall with a 69-70-72=211 (-5). On the fourth hole of the playoff, he sank a birdie putt to win the event against LeTourneau's Corbin Barton.
As a team, the Comets shot an even 289-290-285=864, finishing behind host LeTourneau (-14) and ahead of MUW (+16) and Schreiner (+16) in a 12-team field.
UTD's 54-hole score of 864 is the sixth-best in program history.
Graduate student
Daniel Shofner came in sixth place with a 74-70-71=215 (-1) and sophomore
Reese Tortone shot a 75-76-70=221 (+5), tying for 13th.
Andrew Chow came in 18th with a 71-75-76=222 (+6) and
Tyler Durden tied for 19th with a 77-75-72=224 (+8).
McCurdy led the entire field with 16 birdies during the tournament. Shofner and Chow made 10 each. Tortone and Shofner each recorded an eagle.
The Comets will return to action on Monday, March 17 when they host the Texas Cup in Rockwall.
