WEST POINT, Miss. - The UT Dallas men's golf team placed ninth at the Dunning Invitational at Mossy Oak Golf Course on Tuesday, wrapping up its first tournament of the year.
UTD shot a 294-296-308=898 (+34) in the 14-team field. Fifth-ranked Lee ran away with the tournament, shooting a -21, 843. The Lee B team was second (+15), followed by Delta State (+18), Trevecca Nazarene (+25), #25 Midwestern State (+26), Emmanuel (Ga.) (+25), Montevall (+21) and UT Tyler (+32).
Senior
Tyler Durden was the Comets' top finisher, tying for 16th, with a 73-70-77=220 (+4) and nine birdies. Freshman
Banks Tessier had the best third round for UTD, coming up with a 71-76-74=221 (+5) on eight birdies and an eagle.
Nick Slobbe and
Hunter Wolfinger each tied for 49th place at +17, making seven birdies and eight birdies, respectively.Â
UTD will return to action October 6 at the Hrnciar in Duncan, Okla.
