SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The UT Dallas men's golf team began the spring portion of the 2025-26 season at the Rattler Invitational at the Dominion Country Club on Monday.
Playing in a 16-team field full of top-ranked programs, the Comets climbed five places from tied for 12th in the first round up to seventh in the second round. On the day, they shot a 305-286=591 (+15) with a two-under par team score in the afternoon.Â
UTD sits one stroke behind Cameron (590/+14) and #44 UT Tyler (590/+14) and just ahead of Northeastern State (594/+18) and Lubbock Christian (594/+18).Â
Freshman
Banks Tessier paced the Comets with a 79-69=148 (+4), tying for 23rd. He sank seven birdies and two eagles on Monday.
Seniors
Davis Grindle and
Tyler Durden are tied for 28th at 149 (+5). Grindle went 75-74 with five birdies, while Durden shot a 77-72, including 16 pars in round two.
Senior
Cole Wiley is tied for 36th with a 79-71=150 (+6) and seven birdies. Junior
Nick Slobbe added a 74-79=153 (+9).
With his two eagles on Monday, Tessier has tied the single-season Comet record with four.
UT Dallas will play the third and final round of the Rattler Invitational on Tuesday.
