Box Score RICHARDSON, TX - The UT Dallas men's basketball team kept its early undefeated season in tact Saturday afternoon by running away from winless Howard Payne to improve to 4-0 in American Southwest Conference play with a convincing 87-65 win.
.jpg" alt="" />The Comets (7-0 overall) again used the deadly combination of lights-out shooting and clamp-down defense to record their seventh straight win to open the season. It's UTD's best start since 2006-07 when the Comets began the season at 11-0 before finishing the year at 18-8.
After trailing very early, the Comets raced out to a 47-35 halftime advantage with a 17-of-26 attack from the field, which included 8 three-point shots. UTD then opened the second period with a 23-4 run to up its lead to 31 points (70-39 with 10:36 remaining). UTD got four players into double figures, paced by
Temaine Wright, who posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Jordan Eppink, who had 10 in the first half, finished with 14 points while freshman
Chris Barnes put up 11.
Brandon Greene got 10 points, all in the first half.
The Comets won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding HPU, 34-28 and scored 16 second-chance points.
