Lorber Lifts Off Again, Propels UT Dallas to 11-2 Non-League Win Over Austin College

LORBER WAS 5-FOR-6 AT THE PLATE ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON, FINISHING ONE TRIPLE SHORT OF THE CYCLE

RANDY LORBER'S 9TH-INNING HOMER SWELLED UTD'S LATE-GAME LEAD AGAINST THE KANGAROOS.
SHERMAN, TX (04.20.10) - Randy Lorber's seventh home run of the season capped an authoritative 11-2 win over Austin College on Tuesday afternoon, ramping UT Dallas' win streak to eight games heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

After shelling East Texas Baptist for two homers on Saturday, Lorber, a senior, was 5-of-6 at the plate and anchored a UTD offense that collected 14 hits against the Kangaroos, who are members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Clint Dunham laced three hits -- including his first double of the spring -- and Grant Friddell added two more.

Lorber's performance was the most salient, though, as the Carrollton native needed only a triple to hit for the cycle. The rightfielder jump-started the game with a double in the 1st inning, then lined three straight singles before his three-run homer in the 9th.

The Comets (23-11, 9-5) cycled through five different AC pitchers and held leads of 1-0, 6-1 and 8-2 before the score was finalized.

Max Willard (1-0), throwing in his fifth start of the year, allowed just one run through five innings. Colton Wood, Jonathan Reeder and Adam Spinn all pitched in relief against the Kangaroos (18-19, 9-11 SCAC), who hosted UTD at Baker Field on Tuesday.

UTD will round out the regular season with a three-game series at Louisiana College this weekend (April 23-24). The Comets and Wildcats will square off in Friday's opener, slated for a 6:00 pm start time, before playing a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm on Saturday.
