UT Dallas Men Top Century Mark For First Time Of Season, Down Concordia 101-74

Box Score AUSTIN, TX (01.06.11) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team topped the century mark for the first time in four seasons Thursday night in a 101-74 rout of Concordia-Texas in the Comets return to American Southwest Conference play.

The Comets (now 9-3, 6-2 ASC) shot 50 percent (28-of-56) from the field, hitting 10-of-16 (63%) from three-point range, and shot 81 percent (35-of-43) from the free-throw line. UTD's 101 points is the most by the Comets since a 118-112 overtime road win at Concordia on Dec. 9, 2006.

Junior forward Chris Barnes led the Comets with 28 points while senior Curtis Davis added 23 points as UTD surpassed the 90-point barrier for the fourth time this season.  Barnes was 7-for-11 from the field (2-of-3 from three-point range) and hit 12-of-13 from the charity stripe. Davis hit 6-of-11 shots from the field (1-of-2 from three-point range) and was a perfect 10-for-10 in free throws. Freshman Kyle Schleigh rounded out the Comets in double figures with 15 points. Barnes and Davis both had a team-best nine rebounds in the win.

UTD scored the opening six points of the game and never trailed as the Comets picked up their fifth win in six outings. UTD led by as many as 19 points late in the first half before settling in for a 48-37 lead at the break. The Tornados trimmed the lead to single digits with a pair of free throws early in the second half, but UTD would maintain a double-digit lead for the majority of the final 20 minutes.

Holding a seven-point lead, 64-57, with 12:41 left in the game, the Comets began to pull away. Over the next 4:22, UTD extended its advantage to 21 points, 82-61, after a jumper by Davis that capped the18-4 run by the Comets. UTD's 27-point lead at the end of the night was the Comets' largest margin of the game.

The Comets return to action Saturday afternoon when they face Mary Hardin-Baylor. Game time is 3 p.m. in Belton.
