RICHARDSON, TX (03.26.12) - The UT Dallas women's tennis was handed its first loss of the season Thursday, but responded with wins over two American Southwest Conference foes to wrap up play over the weekend.
After falling 5-4 to regional-powerhouse Whitman late Thursday afternoon, UTD (now 7-1, 2-0 ASC East) bounced back for a 9-0 wins over Hardin-Simmons and Louisiana College. The win over HSU was a home on Friday while the LC victory was on the road Saturday.
WHITMAN 5, UTD 4 (BOX SCORE)
Whitman stormed into to town and swept the Comets in doubles play and then picked up a win at No. 2 singles to hold off UT Dallas and hand the Comets their first loss of the season.
Trailing 3-0 heading to singles play,
Rachel Houston got the Comets in the win column with a 1-6, 7-5, 10-8 win over WC's Alyssa Roberg, the No. 3-ranked player in the region.

Cindy Tiu each added singles win after the match was decided.
UTD 9, HSU 0 (BOX SCORE)
The Comets got back in back to winning ways Friday afternoon with a 9-0 home win over Hardin-Simmons.
Houston and Tan teamed up for an 8-3 win over HSU's Genene Haddad/Lauren Jay at No. 1 doubles to open the play and the Comets never looked back. The Tiu sisters earned an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles over Morgan Rainer/Amelia Chaney while
Stephanie Lu and
Alisha Lorren picked up an 8-2 victory of Kelsi Jackson/Tram Le at No. 3.
Houston improved to 7-0 at No. 1 singles this spring with a 6-2, 6-3 win over HSU's Jay to secure the win before
Mindy Tiu, Tan,
Cindy Tiu, Lu and Lorren each grabbed singles victories.
UTD 9, LC 0 (BOX SCORE)
UTD returned to ASC East play Saturday with a 9-0 win at Louisiana College. The Comets found little resistance from the Lady Cats, giving up just three games combined over singles and doubles play.
Houston/Tan gave up a game in an 8-1 win over LC's Taylor Henderson/Raquel Flaggert at No. 1 doubles, but the duos of the Tiu sisters and Lorren/Lu each earned 8-0 wins to complete doubles.
At No. 1 singles, Houston was the only play to give up a game, downing Henderson, 6-1, 6-1, to improve to 8-0 in singles play this year.
