Box Score TYLER, TX (02.20.16) - In its final tune up before the postseason, the UT Dallas's women basketball team was handed an 88-69 loss by East Division leader and No. 5-ranked Texas-Tyler Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference East Division play.
The Comets (now 14-11, 6-9 ASC) entered Saturday's game locked into the fourth place in the ASC East, unable to move up or down in the standings regardless of the result. UTD opens its 10th straight appearance in the ASC Tournament Thursday when the Comets face ASC West winner Howard Payne, back in Tyler. Game time for the ASC quarterfinal contest will be 2:30 p.m.

McKenzie Petty scored a career-high 18 points as she finished the game 6-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-5 from three-point range.
Micaela Gonzalez was the only other Comet in double figures with 13 points. Petty and Gonzalez each grabbed a team-best six rebounds.
UTD started the game in a big hole as the host Patriots (now 24-1, 15-0 ASC) opened the game with a 24-7 first period and widened their lead to 22 points, 44-22, at the break. The Comets, however, would outscore UTT in both the third and fourth frames, shooting 47 percent as a team over the final 20 minutes.
Michelle Obach finished the game with a UTT record 38 points as one of two Patriots in double figures. Alex Kochner added 23 points.
