ABILENE, TX (09.22.19) - The UT Dallas women's tennis team enter this weekend's ITA Regional with high expectations and would see multiple Comets play into Sunday's final day of competition.

Senior Kathy Joseph was the No. 1 seed overall in the singles bracket and would advance to the quarterfinals before making an early exit. Freshman Samantha Wong was the standout of the event as the No. 6 seeded singles player in the bracket advanced to Sunday's semifinal before her weekend came to a close. Fellow freshman Suzuka Nishino, who was seeded in the 9-16 range, gave the Comets three singles player in the quarterfinals after also earning three victories. Sophomore Stephanie Joseph also picked up an opening-round win for UTD.

Four other Comets dropped first round singles matches, but found success in the consolation bracket. Junior Svaksha Iyengar collected three wins in the consolation bracket before bowing out in the semifinals. Sophomore JoLynn Scriven advanced the consolation quarterfinals and sophomore Adrienne Large made it to the round of 16.

In doubles action, Kathy Joseph and Wong were the top-seeded duo among the 32-team field and made it to the finals before falling to Trinity sisters Mary and Zoe Kaffen, 6-4, 6-2. Iyengar and Nishino, seeded 5-8, advanced to the quarterfinals while Laila Kamel and Stephanie Joseph picked up a first-round win.
