RICHARDSON, TX (01.24.22) - The UT Dallas women's tennis team has been chosen as the favorites to win the title of the ASC East Division this spring, according to the league's preseason poll released Monday afternoon.

The Comets posted a 12-4 overall record last spring and cruised to a third consecutive divisional crown with a 4-0 mark against ASC East foes. UTD would win the ASC Tournament title for the third time in program history in 2021, hosting the regional round of the NCAA D-III National Championship for the first time.
UTD was the unanimous favorite the voting of the league's head coaches, collecting all 11 first-place votes for 55 points. LeTourneau was a distant second in the poll with 38 points, East Texas Baptist (32) was third, Ozarks (24) fourth and Belhaven (15) fifth.
Hardin-Simmons, the ASC runner-up in 2021, was picked as the favorite in the league's West Division, earning 10-of-11 top votes for 65 points. Concordia Texas was second at 49 points, Mary Hardin-Baylor (41) third, McMurry (39) fourth, Howard Payne (23) fifth and Sul Ross State (11) sixth. UMHB also received a first-place vote.

Saumya Vedula were recognized as Preseason Players to Watch in the ASC this spring. Wong claimed ITA All-America honors in 2021, advancing to the doubles semifinals of the NCAA D-III Individual Championships with partner
Kathy Joseph. Vedula was the ASC East's Freshman of the Year last spring.
