BROWNWOOD & TYLER, TX (02.28.09) – Victories have been hard to come by for the UT Dallas women's tennis team, but persistence finally paid off for the Comets when they defeated Millsaps College (MS) 7-2 on UT-Tyler's home courts.

The Comets came into the match off back-to-back 0-9 showings against a pair of American Southwest Conference foes. Still playing without injured No. 1 singles player Sylvia Brownfield, the Comets were shut out by Howard Payne on Feb. 20; then suffered the same fate on Feb. 28 in an ASC East Division match with UT Tyler after Brownfield returned to the lineup.

Still, the Comets bounced back against Millsaps, winning four of the six singles matches and sweeping through the doubles competition. No. 3 Savannah Matlock, No. 4 Susan Heston, No. 5 Florence Corteza and No. 6 Tania Foster all were singles winners and followed with wins in doubles.
