UT DALLAS ATHLETICS HALL OF HONORS
DOUG FEJER
(Photographer, 2004-Present)
DOUG FEJERis a local photography enthusiast who became the Comets’ unofficial volunteer team photographer in 2004, and has been an integral part of the UTD Athletics promotional effort consistently ever since.
Working purely on a volunteer basis, Mr. Fejer has invested a great deal of his own resources in photo equipment, as well as countless hours of his time photographing over 300 UTD home games and other events. Through his efforts, the University has gained access to literally thousands of colorful, professional-quality photographs of UTD student-athletes on the court and in the field. These photographs have been used in various promotional publications and fund-raising efforts, saving the University $1000s in marketing costs.
A native of Mt.Clemens, Michigan, Fejer earned an accounting degree from Michigan State University in 1980, then a graduate degree at The University of Texas in 1982. After a year of working as a Certified Public Accountant for a New York City firm, he moved back to Texas and eventually formed his own successful consulting service as a self-employed CPA. Fejer often says his, “vocation often gets in the way of his avocation,” and that he’d much rather be out taking photographs than spending time in his office.
Fejer lives and works near the campus in Richardson, but became involved with the UTD athletic program merely by accident. His daughter’s youth soccer coach, who was coaching at another local school, asked him to come photograph a game in 2004 where the opponent just happened to be UT Dallas. Impressed with his work, the UTD Athletics staff contacted him afterwards, and invited him to come shoot photos at their games any time he wanted. Fejer has attended hundreds of home games since, and insists he will some day “be taking photos from a wheel chair.”
