SHAUNNA LAWRENCE LYNCH
Softball 2003 - 2004

SHAUNNA LAWRENCE LYNCH was an offensive sparkplug for the UT Dallas softball team in 2003-2004, winning conference and regional honors in each of her two seasons at UTD and helping lead the team to two of its most successful seasons.

After an award-winning career at Hill Junior College, Lawrence transferred to UTD where she became a pesky leadoff hitter and outfielder who opposing teams always had to account for.

Lawrence posted a career batting average of .367, but often found other ways to reach base through walks and the school-record 10 hit-by-pitches she took in 2004. Her official career on-base percentage was .434, but she also used her speed out of the batter’s box to force opposing defenses to often misplay slap hits and bunts to the left side of the infield.

Once on board, Lawrence became an even bigger threat, stealing 28 bases in two seasons and scoring 61 runs – both ranking in the Top 5 of UTD’s career record book. She is still among the all-time program leaders in numerous other statistical categories. Lawrence was an equally effective weapon in the field. In two seasons, she was charged with just four errors while recording 60 put outs and throwing out eight additional runners on the base paths from her post in centerfield.

Lawrence was named first-team All-American Southwest Conference each season as well as a member of the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team. During her career, the Comets posted back-to-back seasons of 20 wins or more both seasons, and advanced to the semifinals of the ASC Championship Tournament in 2004.

Lawrence earned her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from UTD in 2005, and began a career in corporate travel with Wyndham Jade in Plano, where she is currently a Registration Account Executive. She and her daughter Abby live in Bedford, Texas.
