THERESA BUCKLES WALTERS
(Women’s Soccer 2003-06)

THERESA BUCKLES WALTERS was an award-winning leader on four of the most successful UT Dallas women’s soccer teams in program history. During her career, the Comets were 58-14-8 and lost just four American Southwest Conference games. Buckles was part of teams that played in three ASC championship games, sharing the conference title in 2004 after a double-overtime tie, then falling in overtime in what turned out to be the final game of her career in 2006.

Buckles tallied 29 assists throughout her career, establishing a school record; and ranks among the top four all-time in total points (109), goals (40) and shots (227). She is in the Top 10 in several other career statistical categories.

Buckles was named first-team All-American Southwest Conference in 2005 and 2006, and was a second-team selection as a sophomore. Finishing her degree with a cumulative grade point average of over 3.5, she was a three-time selection to the ASC Academic All-Conference team and was twice voted Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Buckles followed an older brother to UT Dallas after a high school career at Sugar Land (Texs) Clements High School. She earned a BA degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2007, received her teaching certification and has been teaching first graders in the McKinney Independent School District since. She is married to former UTD baseball player and Hall of Honors inductee Gordon Walters.
