ALI MORSHEDI
Men's Soccer 2002 - 2005
ALI MORSHEDI is the all-time leading goal scorer in the revered history of UT Dallas men’s soccer. Over a four-year career, Morshedi scored 41 goals and posted 99 points, both school career records. He was named to the American Southwest Conference All-Conference team three times and was the league’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2004.
That season, Morshedi set a single-season record with 18 goals, including a record-setting four-goal performance against East Texas Baptist University. In addition to his conference honors, he was a first-team selection to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-South Central Region team.
UTD advanced to the ASC post-season every year during Morshedi’s four-year career, winning the conference championship in 2004 and advancing to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. During his career, the Comets lost just six out of 52 conference matches.
A native of Tomball, Texas, Morshedi was awarded a scholarship to join UTD’s world-renowned chess team after winning a youth tournament while in high school. Instead, he accepted a soccer scholarship to St. Bonaventure, a Division I school in New York. After missing his freshman season due to an injury, however, Morshedi decided to accept the UTD offer and split his time between both sports for the University. His unique dual-sport combination was featured in a regional television piece on Fox Sports Southwest.
A three-time ASC Academic All-Conference honoree, Morshedi earned both his bachelor’s (2005) and master’s (2008) degrees in electrical engineering from UTD. He currently works as an engineer for Qualcomm in San Diego, California.
